Why is glass recycling important?

Similar to plastic, glass takes a somewhat long time to biodegrade. In fact, a glass bottle would take over 4000 years to decompose – even longer if it's in a landfill. Compared to the maximum amount of time it takes plastic to decompose (around 500 years), it seems like glass might be a worse option.

Avoca Volunteer Fire Department

Today we assisted Elmwood & Murdock with a grass fire caused by a down power line.
First responding units requested Mutual Aid from Avoca, Weeping Water Volunteer Fire Department, Manley Volunteer Fire Department, Louisville Fire Department and Cass County Emergency Management Agency. Due to high winds, it was all hands on deck!
Special thank you to Elmwood Rescue, Kerford Limestone, and the farmers who brought tractors!
