Popular Easter treat - a carrot cake - was invented by French chef in the beginning of 19th century (for the king, of course).
The popularity of carrot cake was revived in the United Kingdom because of rationing of butter during the Second World War (carrot cake is made with oil).

Help Wanted:

The Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation has a part-time position for someone to assist the Executive Director with the creation and implementation of activities that promote Bess Streeter Aldrich, the Aldrich House/Gardens, and Museum. Candidates should appreciate local history, be proficient in the use of technology, and interested in coordinating/promoting Foundation activities.

Hours are flexible and will be negotiated (10 to 25 hours/month). Questions can be directed to Kurk Shrader at 402-867-4233. A letter of application should be submitted by March 1 to Aldrich Foundation, Box 167, Elmwood, NE 68349.
