Deus ex machina, (Latin: “god from the machine”) is the term was first used in ancient Greek and Roman drama, where it meant the timely appearance of a god to unravel and resolve the plot. The deus ex machina was named for the convention of the god’s appearing in the sky, an effect achieved by means of a crane. The dramatic device dates from the 5th century BC; a god appears in Sophocles’ Philoctetes and in most of the plays of Euripides to solve a crisis by divine intervention.

Valentine's Day event at the Lofte has been cancelled

Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, we have decided to cancel our Valentine's dinner that was originally scheduled for mid February.

At this time all other special events for the year are still going ahead as planned, and we couldn't be more excited! To learn more about these events check out the 2022 Season Flyer, currently available on the Lofte website.

We are thrilled to announce our 2022 educational line-up!

Each month our coalition will focus on educating the community about a specific tobacco issue through our listserv, social media, and advertising. Additionally, at each monthly meeting a national or local speaker will educate our members & guests on the topic. We are currently meeting on the 4th Thursday of the month from 11:30-12:30 via zoom.

Please join us January 27th to hear from March of Dimes regarding the intersections of tobacco and pregnancy. Please invite a colleague or friend!
