Avoca Volunteer Fire Department says:

The Avoca Fire District is under a open burn ban.

Vegetation is dormant and extremely dry. The low humidity, mixed with any amount of wind, creates a situation where grass fires are easily ignited and spread rapidly.

Please spread the word that outdoor fires, including

pits and barrels, are not permitted at this time, and

are very dangerous.
