Rich Soil - Deep Roots

Ready or Not...

If you're like me, you've been cringing lately at the arrival of back-to-school T.V. ads and other tell-tale signs that summer won't last forever. This can be a bad thing if you're a kid or a pumpkin patch owner with a to-do list longer than there are days left to do everything. This can also be a good thing, if you're a frazzled parent or love the fall season as much as I do--bring on those 60-degree temps!

OR...this can be a great thing if you're a Husker fan, and if you are, I have just the thing to tide you over until all the hoopla really gets going! I received this email recently about a Husker fan website, and wanted to share it with you:

Teresa,

Hello! I have a suggestion for the Avoca Newsletter that I think everyone will enjoy reading about. I'm the webmaster for a Nebraska "Huskers" football online community called, "Husker Spot - Nebraska Football Fan Network". (The address is http://www.HuskerSpot.com )

This online community of Nebraska football fans has news, videos, pictures, discussion forums, and much more. It's free to join and a great place and resource for Nebraska football fans. I do believe there are Husker fans from Avoca that are already members of the site - but I would welcome any more. With the internet making more of a presence in our everyday lives (at least mine I know!) I think the concept of how great Nebraska fans are - and how it's so easy (and free) to connect with each other via the internet makes this a great story.

For a little background information on me, I grew up in McCool Junction, Nebraska and recently graduated from UNL with a degree in graphic design. I used all the skills I learned in college to make Husker Spot the absolute best!

After creating this site, my main goal now is just spreading the word about it. If you would be able to say just a few words about it in the Avoca newsletter or place a link to it on the homepage, a links page, or news page, - that would be absolutely great! I urge you to at least check out this site that I've spent so much time on. It's a great resource for any Nebraska sports fan!

Thanks so much for your time! Go Big Red!

Nate Ohlrich, creator of HuskerSpot.com
